National Forest Way Ultra 75

The National Forest Way Ultra is an inaugural 75 miles trail race that follows the National Forest Way across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire from the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas to Beacon Hill Country Park. The route passes through former mining areas, woodland, farmland and steep sections, and includes road crossings and some country road sections.

The event is run under UK Athletics and Trail Running Association rules and is a registered UTMB Index race. The race is fully supported with six staffed checkpoints offering drinks, electrolytes and a range of food including sandwiches, salted potatoes, fruit and snacks. Each checkpoint has a cut-off time; the event enforces a 24 hour overall cut-off. TrailMed provide event emergency medical cover.

Entry requires a minimum age of 20 and proof of at least one completed marathon distance race prior to the event. A downloaded GPX route is mandatory. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and may be checked; required items include a headtorch with spare batteries, backup light, survival blanket or bivvy, minimum 1 litre water capacity, waterproof jacket with taped seams, long sleeved thermal base layer, whistle, mobile phone and the race GPS tracker or timing chip.

Relay entries are available for three person teams where each runner must cover over 20 miles to qualify for a finisher medal. No pacers or support runners are permitted. Free race day photography is provided after the event. The first runner to finish has the event tradition of lighting the Beacon Race Events beacon.
