The Good Race

The Good Race is a summer trail running event on 18 July 2026 at Mount Cook Adventure Centre, DE4 4LS. The route is a circular trail of about 10 km with roughly 280 m of elevation on a gently undulating course. The race starts outside Mount Cook on the High Peak Trail and includes grassy fields, shady lanes and sandy moors. Routes are waymarked and organisers provide a downloadable route map; a GPX file is noted as coming soon. Professional timing with full race results, secure bag drop and outdoor first aid qualified marshals are provided on course.

Entry includes automatic inclusion in The Good Race Raffle, with the raffle winner nominating a school, youth charity or community group to receive 100% of race profits as a Mount Cook Adventure Centre voucher to help fund a trip. Race entry fees cover operating costs and any profits will fund the organisation chosen by the raffle winner. The event is licensed by the TRA and will be run under UK Athletics rules. Participants must be 18 or over on 18 July 2026. On race morning runners collect their bib at the event HQ and must pass a mandatory kit check. Required items include suitable off-road running shoes, a raincoat, a hat or buff, at least 150 ml of emergency water and nutrition, and a fully charged mobile phone. Failure to present required kit at kit check or to marshals on course will result in disqualification without refund. Parking is available nearby and public transport options include the Trent Barton 6.1 bus and train to Cromford. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
