Narrowneck Night Run

The Narrowneck Night Run is a night trail event based at Narrowneck Lookout in the Blue Mountains. The course is an out-and-back along the Narrowneck Firetrail, starting from the lookout carpark and returning to the finish at the top of the stairs. The route is largely straightforward and is marked with pink tape only where runners may go wrong.

There are two course options:

  • 14 km with +475 m elevation
  • 24.7 km with +710 m elevation

The short course turns at the 6.88 km mark and the full course turns at the firetrail end (the 12.2 km aid station). An aid station at 12.2 km provides water, electrolyte, fruit, lollies, chips and Coke. There will be no disposable cups at aid stations; runners must be able to carry 500 ml of water and are asked to use their own collapsible cups or flasks. Organisers enforce a No Water No Result rule.

Facilities include portaloos at the start/finish and a toilet at the fire tower turn point. Parking is in surrounding residential streets; runners are asked to be mindful of local residents. Mandatory gear depends on weather but typically includes a breathable waterproof jacket, emergency blanket, beanie or buff, a thermal long sleeve top, and a headlamp. Headphones are not allowed; walking poles are permitted with caution on narrow sections. Entry is limited to 400 participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
