Mytholmroyd Fell Race

The Mytholmroyd Fell Race is a category BS Pennine fell race of about 6 miles (9.7 km) with approximately 500 m (1,640 ft) of ascent. The course is flagged and crosses a mixture of farmland, open moorland and rough tracks, including sections of steep climb and exposed moor where navigation may be required.

The route starts on the bridge next to Burnley Road Primary School and climbs through fields past Hill House Farm to Wicken Hill, then follows tracks across Midgley Moor and Churn Milk Joan before descending into the Luddenden Valley and climbing again onto the moor to join the Calderdale Way. Racers then follow the wall-top track above the golf course and retrace the original ascent route back to the woods at Mytholmroyd. There are three official checkpoints on the route.

The event is licensed by the Fell Runners Association under UK Athletics rules and is therefore a non-GPS race for navigation purposes. FRA mandatory minimum kit is compulsory and includes waterproof full body cover (waterproof trousers and a jacket with an integrated hood and taped seams), hat or buff, gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food. Kit will be checked before race numbers are issued and incorrect or missing kit will prevent participation.

Pre-entry and on-the-day entry fees differ for FRA members and non-members and the race has a limit of 200 entries. The race headquarters is at St Michael's Church Hall, Church Street, Mytholmroyd, HX7 5DS. Public transport to Mytholmroyd is available by train and there is limited parking locally; car sharing is encouraged. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
