Mutt Strut 5K Memphis

The Mutt Strut 5K is a community fundraising run organized by Dogs 2nd Chance, a Mid-South dog rescue and 501(c)(3) nonprofit that does not operate as a shelter and does not receive government funding. The event serves as the primary fundraiser for the organization and directs its proceeds to rescue efforts for stray, abandoned, and abused dogs in the region.

Held at Overton Park with a race venue at Rainbow Lake Pavilion on Old Forest Lane in Memphis, TN 38104, the course runs through the historic Old Forest. The course was redesigned to eliminate limestone for participant safety. The distance is 3.1 miles and participants may run, walk, or stroll; dogs are permitted to participate. Strollers are allowed behind the runners.

All participants who finish receive a medal. Special awards will be presented for top overall finishers and age categories including Top Male and Female, Top Male Master and Female Master (40+), Top Male Grand Master and Female Grand Master (70+), and Top Male Senior Grand Master and Female Senior Grand Master (80+). Prizes are also awarded to the top three finishers in standard age groups ranging from 1-11 up through 80 plus. Teams may be formed and funds can be raised in advance of the event to benefit the rescue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
