Murphy's Mission
Murphy’s Mission event
Murphy’s Mission is a fundraising trail event on 8 November 2025 at Christie Lake Conservation Area in Dundas, Ontario. The event supports Hamilton Animal Services; the event page shows $3,986.57 raised toward a $20,000 goal and lists 137 participants. The event honors Murphy, a shelter dog whose canicross runs led to increased adoption outreach.
Course, categories and logistics
The course is a scenic 5 km loop with a mix of grass, gravel, rolling hills, and double-track trails. The event is chip timed. Distances and formats include:
- 5 km - one loop, timed
- 10 km - two loops of the 5 km course
- 5 km Fun Walk - walk-with-dog option
- Canicross categories for one-dog and two-dog teams are offered.
Canicross equipment requirements include a padded waist belt, a 1.5–2 m bungee line, and a sport-specific dog harness; standard leashes and collars are not permitted in canicross categories. Canicross racers start in small waves of eight teams with one-minute intervals; teams are spaced in the chute for safety. The event gathers at Beach Pavilion 2, with free parking for participants and spectators. Race kit pick-up is scheduled on race morning. The event page notes a no-refund policy and an option to transfer a bib for a fee. Sponsors and fundraising teams are listed on the event page.
