Murderkill Ultramarathons

Murderkill Ultramarathons take place at Killen's Pond State Park in Felton, Delaware. The event uses a roughly 3.10-mile mostly dirt loop contained within the park, with a short paved loop around the parking area and an aluminum footbridge included in each lap. Trail surface varies from broad dirt on the north portion to single-track with roots on the south portion. Total climb per loop is low, about 80 feet, and the course is rated low on technical difficulty.

Races are offered in these formats:

  • 50 Miler
  • 50K
  • 12-hour option

The event is run in a quoted "Fat Ass style." It is self-supported with a community table for shared food and drink; water will be provided but aid is not guaranteed. Timing is manual: organizers will check off laps and record finish results. There are restrooms about 50 yards from the picnic area; a porta-john may sometimes be placed near the boat ramp. Parking is ample and located adjacent to the course; a park parking fee is included with entry and a pass is provided on arrival. Participants must pack out their trash.

Entries are limited to 30 participants per race. There is no waitlist, no transfers, and no refunds. The organizer will suspend running for thunderstorms and will not allow additional laps during such closures. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
