Muddy Shamrock @ The Forge

The Muddy Shamrock @ The Forge is an early‑season trail event held at The Forge in Lemont, Illinois, with wooded single and double track and gravel trails around the historic Lemont Quarries. The course uses mountain bike and trail paths through woods and quarry scenery, with a common start and finish area.

Distances

  • Trail Half Marathon : approximately 13.1 miles, two laps on single/double track and gravel.
  • Trail Quarter Marathon : approximately 6.6 miles, one lap on the same trail system.

The route includes varied terrain and surfaces: dirt, grass, rocks, mud, roots, and stumps. Gravel sections are mostly flat; single and double track sections include technical spots and several short but steep inclines and downhills. Trail running shoes are recommended. For the half marathon there will be one aid station with water and sports drink at the beginning of the second lap; participants are asked to plan for personal hydration and fuel because the event may limit cup use.

Packet pick up is staged before race day at local pickup locations and on race day at The Forge. Parking is available in Lots 1 and 2 on the gravel road near the bridges that provide access to the trailhead. Awards are offered for overall and multiple age group categories, plus masters and mid pack recognitions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
