Mt. Tom Trail Race
Mt. Tom Trail Race takes place on October 24, 2026, within Mt. Tom State Park, with start and finish at Bray Lake. The event offers multiple course options on rugged single-track hiking trails and supports the Kestrel Land Trust. Parking at Bray Lake is limited, so carpooling is encouraged.
Distances offered:
- 25k solo (about 13.5 miles), 3,300 feet climbing
- 2-person 25k relay, legs of 7.4 miles and 6.1 miles
- 10k solo, 1,400 feet climbing
- 5k fun run/hike, 600 feet climbing
The 25k course has a 6-hour overall cut-off and intermediate cut-offs. Aid stations are provided at minimum every 5 miles, offering water, energy drink, soda, and typical race food; hot soup may be added if temperatures are cold. Maps and GPX files for the courses are available in a shared folder.
Relay exchange occurs at the upper pavilion Lookout Aid Station; relay teams are responsible for their own transport to that area, and there is no race shuttle. Relay batons are provided as brightly colored slap bracelets, with costume or reflective alternatives encouraged.
Medical support will include EMT crews at Bray Lake and communications between aid stations and the finish. Participants must inform a race official if they stop. Headphone use is discouraged per USATF guidelines and the use of poles is permitted. Entry fees are published and may increase on September 1. Funds are available upon request to help cover entry fees without questions if support is available.
Prizes and recognition are awarded for top solo and relay finishers across gender categories, multiple age groups, and special categories such as King and Queen of the Mountain based on a designated climb segment time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
