The Book It for Books event at Lake Accotink Park in Springfield, VA includes 5k, 10k, and 1 mile race options. The 5k is an out-and-back trail on the south side of the lake. The 10k uses an out-and-back on the north side for half the race, then an out-and-back on the south side; it is mostly trail with a significant paved section. Course maps include elevation information. Water stations: three along the 10k at about miles 1.55, 3.1 and 4.65; one on the 5k at about mile 1.55. Participants receive a finisher's medal, a technical Drifit event shirt, and electronic chip timing. Awards are given for 1st and 2nd in multiple age groups, including 70+, 60-69, 50-59, 40-49, 30-39, 20-29, 13-19, and 12-and-under.

Packet pickup is scheduled at Bards Alley Bookshop in Vienna, VA on the days before the race; morning packet pickup is also available at the venue. Registration fees change by deadline and increase on race morning; shirts are guaranteed to runners registered before Oct 15. Seth’s Fat Ass 50K at Forest Park in Springfield on December 20 invites runners to tackle between one 5K loop and the full ten loop 50K in a festive, low key winter setting. Enjoy scenic roads and trails, event swag and a seven hour limit.

Join a friendly, informal 5 to 10k run or snowshoe on a roughly 10k course with loaner snowshoes available. Bring a spare pair to share, enjoy light refreshments, and team up for bragging rights and a shared baked treat.

Test your trail skills on the Northern Nipmuck Trail Race, a rugged 16 mile out and back through Yale Myers Forest and Boston Hollow with technical terrain and serious climbing. Limited to 100 entrants, proceeds support local trails.

Run a scenic 6.55 mile quarter marathon through West Hartford Reservoir 4 as two loops around the park. Limited to 150 runners, the event features chip timing, post race treats and awards in five year age groups.
