Mrs. McCormick's Ice House

Mrs. McCormick's Ice House is a winter trail race held at Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill on January 16, 2027. The event uses a roughly 4 mile loop that participants may complete one, two, or three times. Registration is $30 plus $4.37 in UltraSignup fees with no planned price increases.

New for 2027 is a snowshoe race scheduled to start the day. If snowshoe conditions do not permit the race to run, snowshoe registrants may choose one of the running options instead. The race is part of the Common Ground Winter Trail Series and series registrants receive bonuses that include entry into another event, series merchandise, and a random draw for membership in the FarFetched Mug Club.

Race headquarters is at Wilson Lodge with parking available next to the lodge. Park roads and parking will be plowed if needed. The main park road operates as a one way, counter clockwise route. The course visits many parts of the park while avoiding a western slope prone to deep snow drifts and may be changed for trail or weather conditions.

Post race amenities at the heated lodge include real restrooms, a fireplace, freshly made buckwheat pancakes with Naples Maple Farm syrup, hot chai latte, hot chocolate with a Skratch option, warm apple cider, cold lemon lime Skratch hydration, fresh fruit, and a variety of snacks. Participants are encouraged to bring skis, sleds, or fatbikes; those users are offered pancakes and hot beverages. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
