Event

The Motion for Justice 5k is a chip-timed 5k road race held on May 16, 2026 in Rocketts Landing, Richmond, VA. The event counts toward the Year-Long 5k & Back of the Pack Series and the Spring Series. A virtual race option is offered for participants who cannot attend in person. Registered runners receive a finisher medal and a technical event shirt.

Course

The course is paved and flat along the Virginia Capital Trail with views of the James River. A water station is located at the 5k turnaround point (approximately 1.55 miles). Logistics and services

  • Registration: in-person race day registration is available; early pricing applies for advance registration (5k listed at $30 until April 15, then $35). T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for registrations submitted before May 6. Price increases on race morning by $5 for each distance.
  • Results and photos: live results will be posted online and final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race. Event photos taken by staff are posted online after the event.
  • Awards: top three men and women overall and 1st and 2nd place men and women in standard age groups are recognized; overall top-three finishers are not eligible for age-group awards.
  • Parking: near Rocketts Landing along the Virginia Capital Trail, GPS pin 37.521065, -77.416715. Volunteers are assigned tasks on race morning. Weather updates and any changes are communicated to registrants.
