Mossyrock Independence Day 5K & 8K

Participants choose between two distances and may run or walk the course. The event uses trails on Tacoma Power property near Mossyrock Park and includes a crossing of the Mossyrock Dam with views of Riffe Lake.

The course details include:

  • 5K
  • 8K Hill Challenge includes running or walking to the bottom of the dam and back up

Organizers will walk participants across the dam and begin the course from the far side, returning across the dam during the route. Both distances include a small cross-country component and portions on gravel and grass. Strollers are permitted; large-wheel varieties are recommended for the gravel and grass sections. Dogs and bicycles are not allowed on the course; service dogs are excluded from this restriction. Only registered participants are permitted on the dam and only while they are on the course.

Fees are tiered by age: adults are listed at $32.50, youths ages 12 to 17 at $25, and children 11 and under enter free. A partial refund of 75% is available until June 13; refunds are not available after that date.

The event is presented by the Mossyrock Area Action League in partnership with Arbor Health. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
