Event overview
The Moosalamoo Ultra is a trail race organized by Ironwood Adventure Works in Goshen, Vermont. The event starts and finishes at the Blueberry Hill Inn near Middlebury and takes place on August 1, 2026. Two distances are offered:
- 14 miles
- 36 miles
The 14 miler has about 2400 feet of elevation gain. The 36 miler has more than 5000 feet of elevation gain.
Course and logistics
Both courses use mountain single-track trails that reach the top of Mount Moosalamoo and include views of Lake Dunmore. Most trails are within the Green Mountain National Forest. Several course sections cross private property and are open to the public only on race day.
Aid stations:
- 14 miler: miles 8 and 11.
- 36 miler: miles 8, 11, 15.3, 19.7, 24, 27 and 31. Drop bag service is available to the Dam Road aid station (miles 19.7 and 27). The event is cup-free; participants must carry a reusable cup, bottle, or pack to access fluids.

- Dogs are allowed with leash rules at the start and the first few miles; dogs must be under control and owners must clean up after them.
- Spectators may be on course, but runner support is allowed only at designated aid stations and parking is limited.
- Entry includes an event shirt, a post-race meal, a finisher award, and access to primitive camping.
- Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers for each distance.
- Refunds are available, less a $25 service fee, if requested by May 31; no refunds after that date.
- 36-mile runners must reach the final aid station at about mile 31 by the race cutoff in order to continue.
