SCOTT Sports Winter Cheviot Goat

The SCOTT Sports Winter Cheviot Goat is a long-distance footrace taking place in the Cheviot hills of Northumberland. Based at Ingram Village Hall, the course covers a loop of approximately 55 miles across the largest hills in the border region. This event is held under UK Athletics rules and is licensed by the Trail Running Association.

The route traverses an unforgiving environment where participants must be prepared for winter conditions. Due to the variable nature of the terrain and weather, the final course route is often confirmed only a few days before the start. Participants have a total of 24 hours to reach the finish line.

The event utilizes specific safety and tracking measures:

  • Every runner is provided with a GPS tracker for progress monitoring.
  • The race may be delayed by up to 24 hours if extreme weather makes the course unsafe.

Registration is open to individuals aged 18 and older who have previous ultra-running experience. All finishers receive a t-shirt and a medal, with specific prizes awarded to top finishers. The overall winner of the race is awarded the Edwin Nelson Cup. Logistics at the event HQ include paid parking and camping options for tents or vans in an adjacent field.
