Mitchell's Mountain 5K Trail Race + 1K Dash for Hope
This event takes place on June 27, 2026, at Kessler Mountain in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It combines a short adaptive dash for families affected by autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities with a separate 5K trail race on nearby trails.
Distances:
- 5K trail race looping from Outfield Trailhead through Kessler Mountain back to the start
- 1K Dash for Hope on an adaptive out-and-back trail along Judge Cummings Road
The 1K uses an adaptive route with some slight incline and is intended for participants to walk, jog, run, or shuffle together; families affected by autism and other I/DD are a focus of this portion. The 5K begins after the 1K concludes and follows a climbing loop through the mountain, returning to the start area. Organizers plan a brief moment to honor and cheer families and individuals who complete the 1K before the 5K begins.
Mitchell’s Mountain organizes the event and provides services and support to families affected by autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. The organization offers respite care, is developing a long-term residential community, and runs local family events such as this race. Registration fees are listed as $15 for the 1K and $30 for the 5K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
