The Miner 49er are trail endurance runs held in the Mines of Spain area near Dubuque, Iowa, with packet pick up at the EB Lyons Interpretive Center, 8991 Bellevue Heights Rd. The course is an out-and-back route with natural trail features and scenic river and bluff views.
Distances
- 25K out and back, approx 2200 feet elevation gain
- 50K two laps, approx 4400 feet elevation gain
The trails include single track, some double track, and prairie trail. Runners will pass the Julien Dubuque Monument, Horseshoe Bluff, and views of the Mississippi River. Terrain features stone steps, stream crossings, rocks, and roots. The course includes three aid stations stocked with typical ultra event nutrition.
The event is held in a public park so non-race trail users may be present. Registration is non-refundable and not transferable to other participants or future events. Registration closes on Wed, Oct 28 at 11:59 PM CT and there is no same day registration. Packet pick up times are Friday November 6 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM and Saturday morning from 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM at the EB Lyons Interpretive Center.
Additional rules note that pacers are not allowed, the finish cut off for both events is 5 PM, and any distance changes require verification with the race director before the race.
