Miner 49er
The Miner 49er is an endurance running event held in the Mines of Spain area in Dubuque, IA. The course uses mostly single track with some double track and prairie trail, and offers views of the Julien Dubuque Monument, Horseshoe Bluff, and the Mississippi River. The 25K course is an out and back with approximately 2200 feet of elevation gain. The 50K consists of both laps for approximately 4400 feet of gain. Runners encounter stone steps, stream crossings, and rocky, rooty trail sections.
The course will include three aid stations stocked with typical ultra event nutrition. Because the event is held in a public park, non race trail users may be present. The event has a cut off of 5pm for both distances.
Registration policies note that race fees are not refundable and registrations are not transferable. Changing distances requires prior confirmation with the race director; switching from 50K to 25K before the start is allowed only with confirmation and no refund. Switching from 25K to 50K requires verification and payment of the difference. Pacers are not allowed and same day registration is not available.
Packet pickup is at the EB Lyons Interpretive Center, 8991 Bellevue Heights Rd, with sessions the Friday before the event and a brief session on race morning. Registration closes October 28 at 11:59 PM CT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
