Glades Runner

The Miccosukee Glades Runner is an athletic event held at the Miccosukee Indian Village in the Florida Everglades. Hosted by the Miccosukee Tribe, the event offers participants the opportunity to run on the paved Shark Valley loop within the Everglades National Park. The course provides a natural landscape where runners are surrounded by local wildlife and scenery.

Participants can choose from three distinct distances:

  • 50 km
  • 16.5 miles
  • 5 km

The courses are entirely on pavement. Runners participating in the ultramarathon distance also traverse sections of Loop Road. Each distance includes access to a combination of fully stocked aid stations and water stops. For event safety and logistics, the route is supported by race monitors and tribal police.

The event is designed to be family-friendly. Family members of registered participants receive complimentary entry to the Miccosukee Indian Village on the day of the race. Activities available at the venue include a live alligator show. All finishers receive a commemorative medal, a race shirt, and a goodie bag. Food is provided for participants at the finish line.

The event offers specific registration discounts for active duty military, first responders, teachers, full-time students, returning participants, and Native American runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
