MelbOURne Frontyard Ultra

The MelbOURne Frontyard Ultra is a backyard ultra held in Studley Park and the surrounding parklands near Deep Rock Road, Fairfield, Melbourne, Victoria. The event is scheduled for Saturday 1 May 2027 and is part of the Ultra Series Backyard lineup as its fifth addition.

The format requires runners to complete a 6.71 km loop on the hour, every hour. Participants continue running successive loops until only one runner remains. The course uses trails and parkland paths around the city parklands.

The event materials note volunteer support is required for operations. Registered volunteers receive discounts on future entries, specifically 50% off next year’s Melbourne Frontyard entry or 20% off any other Ultra Series event, with the discount able to be accrued.

Trail runs nearby

A trail festival at You Yangs Regional Park with distances from 5 km to 100 miles, running on granite peaks, forest trails and rocky technical sections with views over Port Phillip Bay. Part of the Trailsplus Mountain Series.

Silvan offers three trail courses through the Dandenong Ranges on Sunday 2 August 2026, with significant hills and single and double track. A handicap start is used and routes are clearly colour marked at splits.

A Spartan obstacle race weekend at Werribee Racecourse on Aug 8 and 9, 2026, offering sprint, super, kids races and a four hour Hurricane Heat. The course is described as fast and flat and includes the Chain Carry and Armer obstacles.

A two day running festival in the Dandenong Ranges with a Junior Dash, a 5 km family run and a 13.5 km classic that runs alongside the Puffing Billy steam train. Proceeds support heritage restoration at Puffing Billy Railway.
