MeadowGold 11K & 5K
The MeadowGold 11K & 5K is the seventh and final race in the Vail Trail Running Series. The event takes place on Meadow Mountain in the Town of Minturn, Colorado. This historic location features a mix of mountain meadows that were formerly used for lettuce farming in the 1920s and downhill skiing in the 1960s.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 10.6 km (11K): Features 80% singletrack and 20% dirt trail with 1,362 feet of elevation gain.
- 5 km: Consists of 40% singletrack and 60% dirt trail with 553 feet of elevation gain.
The 11K course leads runners up technical singletrack on the West Grouse Trail, involving multiple stream crossings and fields of wildflowers. After reaching the high point, the route descends via the Line Shack Trail, offering views of Vail Mountain and the Gore Range. The 5K route involves a 1.5-mile ascent through mountain meadows on the Line Shack Trail before runners turn around to descend back to the start.
Registration is available online in advance or in person on the day of the event. The race is a papercup-less event, and participants are encouraged to bring their own hydration devices. Aid stations are situated along the courses providing water and electrolyte drinks. Post-race activities include an afterparty with awards for various age categories, a raffle, and refreshments such as donuts and fruit.
