MeadowGold 11K & 5K

The MeadowGold 11K & 5K is a trail running event on Meadow Mountain in the Town of Minturn, Colorado. It is the seventh and final race in the Vail Recreation District's Vail Trail Running Series and is presented by the Town of Minturn. The course traverses historic mountain meadows and old homesteads on Meadow Mountain.

Distances:

  • 11K (10.6K / 6.6 miles)
  • 5K (3.1 miles)

The longer course ascends technical singletrack on the West Grouse Trail with multiple stream crossings and wildflower fields, then descends Line Shack Trail with open views of Vail Mountain and the Gore Range. The 5K follows Line Shack Trail through meadows to a turnaround and returns to the finish. Course statistics list elevation gain of about 1,362 feet for the 11K and about 553 feet for the 5K. Running surfaces are primarily singletrack and dirt trail.

This is a more remote race in the series. Aid stations are on course and provide water and Skratch hydration; participants are encouraged to carry personal hydration and fuel. Racer parking is located at the Town of Minturn train yard with a short walk across Highway 24 to the race start. Postrace offerings include t-shirts, food from a local kitchen, awards by age group, raffle entry for racers who are present, and a series after-party with nonalcoholic and age restricted beverages.
