Vail Berry Picker Trail Run

The Vail Berry Picker is a trail race on Vail Mountain that starts near Gondola One in Vail Village and finishes at Mid Vail. The course covers about 6.9 km (4.3 miles) with an elevation gain of approximately 2,013 feet, a reported average climb of 14 percent, and maximum uphill grade near 20.5 percent. Runners encounter singletrack and doubletrack terrain while ascending Berry Picker Trail, continuing onto Lower Fireweed, then exiting onto the Mountain Access Road toward the finish at Mid Vail. An aid station is located about 1.9 miles into the climb.

Aid stations provide water and Skratch Hydration Sport Drink. The race operates as a minimal waste event and encourages the use of personal hydration devices or reusable cups. At the finish there are donuts and fresh fruit provided by a local vendor, and custom race t shirts are available in a range of sizes. Awards are presented at the Mid Vail finish with prizes for the top three male and female finishers in multiple age groups. A raffle includes entries for all racers who are present at the awards.

Parking is recommended in the Vail Village or Lionshead parking structures. Spectators may access Mid Vail via the gondola under limited operational access, and dogs are not allowed on the gondola.
