Event overview
The MMT 100 is the Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 Mile Run. The 30th running is scheduled for May 16, 2026 at Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp in Fort Valley, Virginia. Entry opens on October 31, 2025. The event is organized by the Virginia Happy Trails Running Club (VHTRC) and follows the club’s Event Participant Medical Policy and Policy on Race Cancellation.
Course and logistics
The race is a 100-mile trail ultra on the trails of the Massanutten Mountains in the George Washington National Forest, in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. The course is described as rocky and demanding, with short but rugged mountain climbs that total more than 18,000 feet of ascent. A 36-hour cutoff applies. The VHTRC sponsors four training runs on the MMT course each year, starting on MLK weekend in January and usually extending into April. A Participants’ Guide is available for runners, crews, and pacers and is recommended to be printed or saved on a mobile device. The race relies on volunteers and provides information for drop bags, crew instructions, pacers, lodging options, and emergency procedures on its information pages.
