Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 Mile Run

Fort Valley, United States • 16 May 2026

Event overview

The Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 Mile Run (MMT 100) is a 100-mile trail ultramarathon in the Massanutten Mountains, inside the George Washington National Forest in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. The 2026 edition is the 30th running and takes place on May 16, 2026, with the start/finish at Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp in Fort Valley, VA. The course is rocky and includes short, rugged mountain climbs totaling more than 18,000 feet of ascent. The race uses a 36-hour cutoff for finishers.

Course and logistics

The course is marked and supported by well-stocked aid stations. All participants are required to carry a GPS tracking device while on the course; official finish times are recorded live by volunteer timekeepers rather than from GPS data. The event offers information and services for drop bags, crew instructions, pacers, a solo division, on-site and off-site lodging, and emergency procedures. The Virginia Happy Trails Running Club sponsors four training runs on the course, typically starting on Martin Luther King weekend in January and running into April. Registration opens October 31, 2025; the published refund deadlines are March 1, 2026 (refund minus $25) and April 16, 2026 (refund minus $100 under specified conditions). The event does not permit deferrals or bib transfers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
