Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 Mile Run

The Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 Mile Run is a 100 mile trail ultramarathon held in the Massanutten Mountains within the George Washington National Forest in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. The start and finish are at Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp in Fort Valley, VA. The course is rocky and demanding, with short, rugged mountain climbs that total over 18,000 feet of ascent. There is a 36 hour cutoff for the event.

Aid stations are well stocked and the course is marked. The event provides information for crews, pacers, drop bags, a solo division, on site and off site lodging options, and emergency procedures. A Participants’ Guide is available for runners, crews, and pacers and is recommended for race weekend.

Entry opened October 31, 2025 with no lottery. Registration is listed as closing on April 29, 2026. Refund deadlines are published: March 1, 2026 is the last day for a refund minus $25; April 16, 2026 is the last day for a refund minus $100 provided the entrant list has at least 250 entrants and there is a waitlist to draw from; otherwise no refund can be given. No deferrals or bib transfers are allowed. The event relies on volunteers and the VHTRC sponsors multiple training runs on the course in the months before the race.
