Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 Mile Run
The Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 Mile Run is a trail ultramarathon held in the Massanutten Mountains within the George Washington National Forest in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. The race is a 100 mile course that runs out of Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp in Fort Valley, VA, which serves as the start and finish area.
The route follows rocky mountain trails and includes short but rugged climbs that total more than 18,000 feet of ascent. The event uses a 36 hour cutoff for completion. A detailed Participants’ Guide is available with logistical information for runners, crews, and pacers; race materials also cover drop bags, crew instructions, pacers, a solo division, on-site and off-site lodging, and emergency procedures.
The organizing club sponsors four training runs on the course in the months before the event, beginning on MLK weekend and usually extending into April. Volunteers support aid stations and race operations. Results, course descriptions, race rules, and information about volunteering and entry are maintained by the organizers. Entry is open for the edition taking place in May 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
