MapRun - Navigate the Night

MapRun - Navigate the Night is a night score orienteering event on Wednesday 14 January 2026 in Mumbles, Swansea. Participants receive a specially prepared paper map at assembly near postcode SA3 5QN and should expect on road parking on Glen Road, West Cross.

Competitors have 60 minutes to visit any of 30 checkpoints in any order, score points for each checkpoint visited, and return to the start within the time limit. Choice of checkpoints and route is up to each participant; speed helps but route planning affects the final score.

The event uses the MapRun app as the timing chip. Participants must use a smartphone with the MapRun app installed and load the event on their phone; organisers will provide the paper map at the start. Briefing information is given before the run.

Safety notes state that participation is at each person’s own risk. The course uses public streets and paths where traffic may be present. Participants must use crossing points where available and follow basic road safety guidance. Some paths may be muddy and slippery. Organisers note that competitors have previously completed events using a wheelchair or mobility scooter; an annotated map showing obstacles such as stairs and narrow gates can be provided in advance on request.

Required items to bring include a phone, torch, pen and high visibility clothing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
