Phoenix Running - Stretford

Stretford, United Kingdom • 18 Sep 2026

Manchester - Friday Firecracker

This event offers a timed run on an out-and-back course along the River Mersey at Chorlton Water Park, based at Hardy Farm, M21 8FE. The course is a 5.3 km lap (3.28 miles) on an off road riverside towpath with very little elevation change.

Participants may complete one lap or repeat laps to reach a range of distances within the event time limit. Every finisher receives a bespoke finishers' medal. A special Lucky Dip will make classic Phoenix medals from past events available; numbers are chosen blind and exchanges are not permitted.

The chosen charity for the event is Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes Research. A race brief is sent one week before the event and is mandatory reading for all participants.

An aid station on course is stocked with vegetarian items and includes many vegan and gluten free options. Typical supplies include bananas, dates, jelly sweets, crisps, cake, squash, and full sugar cola. Participants with severe or life threatening allergies are advised to bring their own food because cross-contamination cannot be ruled out.

Toilets and changing rooms are available at Race HQ. Parking is available for 75 cars at Hardy Farm on a first come, first served basis, with additional parking for up to 100 cars across the river at Sale Water Park and other nearby public and paid parking options.
