Friday Firecracker in Manchester

The Friday Firecracker is a timed running event held at Hardy Farm in the Chorlton Water Park area. Participants navigate an out and back course along the River Mersey, consisting of a 5.3 km (3.28 mile) lap. The event operates on a flexible format where entrants choose their own distance during the race by completing as many or as few laps as they wish within a seven-hour time limit.

The course follows a riverside towpath and consists of off-road trail terrain. The profile is flat with very little elevation gain or loss throughout the route. Because it is a timed event, participants can complete various distances based on the number of laps finished, including:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • Half Marathon
  • Marathon
  • Ultra Marathon

Facilities at the Race HQ include toilets and changing rooms. A vegetarian aid station is available throughout the day, offering items such as bananas, dates, sweets, crisps, and cake, with vegan and gluten-free options provided. Parking is available for 75 cars at Hardy Farm on a first-come, first-served basis, with additional parking located at Sale Water Park and around Chorlton Water Park. All participants who complete at least one lap receive a bespoke finishers' medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
