The Man Against Horse Race is scheduled for October 18, 2025, in Prescott, Arizona. The event features endurance horses with riders competing alongside runners on shared courses for the longer distances. The race began in 1983 after a bar bet and continues to include awards and community giving. The event donates to Bethany’s Gait and the Yavapai County Food Bank. Courses

  • 50 miles : One large loop that summits Mingus Mountain with a maximum elevation of about 7,600 ft and approximately 7,300 ft total climb and 7,300 ft total descent. Surface mix: 50% single track, 25% double track, 25% dirt roads. Terrain ranges from tall grasslands and high desert to ponderosa pine forest.
  • 25 miles : Shares the same route as the 50 mile for the first 17.5 miles, then diverges before rejoining for the final 6 miles. Approximately 3,300 ft gain and 3,300 ft loss. Same trail mix and varied terrain as the 50 mile.
  • Half marathon (13 miles / intro ride) : A lollipop loop across Fain Ranch with sweeping views of Prescott Valley. Course surface is about 50% double track and 50% dirt roads, with gentle rolling hills and roughly 800 ft gain and 800 ft loss. Runners and riders for this distance start separately.

Take on the rugged Black Canyon Trail in Arizona with point to point 50K and 100K races. Scenic singletrack, river crossings and late race technical terrain make this a memorable challenge and a Western States qualifier for top finishers.

Run scenic, technical trails around Watson Lake Park in Prescott, from a 10K to a 92K ultramarathon, finishing by the dramatic Granite Dells. Expect single track, granite scrambles, and desert to pine scenery for all levels.

Run about 125 miles from Jerome to Flagstaff through Sedona red rock canyons and the Coconino National Forest on mostly single track trails. Expect epic scenery, a generous time limit, and staffed aid stations with vegan options.
