MacTuffX Edinburgh

MacTuffX Edinburgh is a functional fitness racing event held at Saughton in Edinburgh. As part of a nationwide series, the event combines running with a variety of focused exercises. Participants can choose between two main distance formats:

  • Classic: 10 functional exercises paired with 10 rounds of 400m runs.
  • Double Distance (2X): 10 functional exercises paired with 10 rounds of 800m runs.

The event is designed to accommodate different competitive styles. Individuals can enter as Solo participants, or pair up for the Doubles division to share the workload. A Relay option is also available for teams of five, where each member completes two runs and specific exercises.

The functional movement stations include a range of activities such as alternating snatches, walking lunges, devil presses, bear crawls, overhead carries, kettlebell deadlifts, burpee broad jumps, and slams. Weights vary by gender and exercise, utilizing equipment such as hexbells, sandbags, kettlebells, and slamballs. For those who prefer to compete with reduced resistance, a LITE category is available which allows participation with lighter weights alongside the standard divisions.

Live data is provided during the event, with results accessible via smartphones, tablets, or on-site screens. These leaderboards offer performance breakdowns by race, division, gender, and age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
