Macedonia Trail Race
The Macedonia Trail Race is held at Macedonia Brook State Park in Kent, Connecticut. Established in 2019, the event uses single track and forest trails and includes sustained climbs and descents with multiple viewpoints along the courses.
Distances offered
- 12K
- 25K
- 50K
The 12K course starts next to the main pavilion and includes a short road section of about four tenths of a mile before entering blue blazed single track run counter clockwise. The route features a grinding climb early on, technical single track sections, a notable climb up Cobble Mountain with a western viewpoint where the Catskills can be seen on a clear day, and a technical descent back toward the pavilion finish area.
The 25K consists of two loops of the 12K course plus a short out and back and has more than 3,500 feet of elevation gain. The 50K is a three loop course that includes three climbs of Cobble Mountain and has more than 7,000 feet of elevation gain.
Aid stations provide water or electrolyte drink and typical race food items; the event follows a cupless policy so runners must carry their own hydration. Race rules highlight no littering, mandatory course following, nontransferable bibs, a headphone discouraged policy, and a prohibition on smoking and alcohol in the park. Registration opens January 1 and entry fees range from about $45 to $95; there are no refunds or transfers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
