Event Overview

The Lulworth Cove trail running event takes place on the South West Coast Path in England. The course includes the iconic Durdle Door and Kimmeridge Bay. The event offers three race distances: 10 km, 27 km, and 50 km.

Course and Terrain

The route runs inland and along the South West Coast Path. The terrain includes steep elevation changes, paths, grass, and off-road sections. The weather in February can be below zero degrees Celsius with coastal winds.

Facilities and Services

The event base camp is located in Wareham (BH20 5PU). Free parking is available at base camp and at the Durdle Door Car Park. There are portaloos at base camp. Public transport access is via bus stops outside base camp or train stations in Moreton and Wareham. There are no shower facilities.

Race Details

  • 50 km Ultra Marathon: Starts at 08:00. Features 6 aid stations. GPS trackers are provided for this distance. Minimum age is 20.
  • 27 km Trail Race: Starts at 09:00. Features 4 aid stations. Minimum age is 18.
  • 10 km Trail Race: Starts at 10:00. Features a finish aid station. Minimum age is 16.

All races use chip timing. A mandatory pre-race briefing is held 15 minutes before each start. Mandatory kit will be spot-checked when collecting race bibs. The event is cupless; participants must carry their own cup or flask. Aid stations provide water, Coke, electrolytes, fruit, savoury snacks, sweet snacks, and energy gels.

Rules and Participation

The use of headphones is discouraged; open-ear or bone-conducting headphones are permitted if they do not block external sound. Walking poles are allowed. Littering will result in disqualification. Weymouth Bay 10K is an accurately measured road race along Bowleaze Cove with an out and back layout and two laps near Pleasure Pier. The event offers medals and trophies, on-day registration, and supports Margaret Green Animal Rescue.

Trail running at Hinton Admiral Estate on 7 March 2026 with 21.6 km, 15 km and 10.1 km routes; running, canicross and hike options through woodlands, heath and meadows. Finishers receive a medal, a drink and goodies.
