Lucifer's Crossing : event details

Lucifer's Crossing is scheduled for Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the Old Y Camp in Robert H. Treman State Park, Ithaca, NY. The event offers three distances:

  • Half Marathon - 13.2 miles
  • 10K - approximately 6.66 miles
  • 5K - 3.3 miles

Registration opens in October and closes on Wednesday, May 27. Entrants receive park admission, an event shirt (only guaranteed for those who register before May 1), and post-race food.

Course and logistics

All distances begin with a roughly 1.5 to 2 mile rolling ascent on the Rim Trail. The 5K turns left at the top of a historic stone staircase to return on the singletrack Finger Lakes Trail. The 10K and Half Marathon descend through the Lucifer Falls gorge, climb the Red Pine Trail, pass the historic Old Mill, then follow a mostly descending section on Finger Lakes Trail singletrack. Half Marathon runners complete two loops of the 10K course; the 5K uses an abbreviated opening loop.

Staging and check-in are at the old Y Camp. Parking is along the access road serving the staging area, located to the right off Route 13 South about 1/2 mile from the split with Route 34; park to the right shoulder behind the cone as space allows. The event has a no-refund policy; entries may be rolled into another Red Newt Racing event if the organizer is notified at least 30 days before the race.
