Lowestoft Scores Race 2026
The 2026 Scores Race takes place in Lowestoft on Sunday 30 August 2026. Organised by Waveney Valley Athletic Club, the event follows the town's historic scores and starts and finishes on the upper high street. Christchurch acts as race headquarters and provides limited changing facilities, a bag drop, post race refreshments and the venue for prize giving.
Two races are held for different age groups. The course for each is described below:
- Senior race: approximately 4.75 miles and 401 steps
- Junior race: approximately 1.4 miles and 254 steps
All finishers receive a medal and a commemorative t shirt; entrants are asked to ensure the correct size is selected on the entry form. The organisers are taking steps to reduce single use plastic by providing a table for runners to leave a named personal bottle at the finish.
Entries are limited to 400 seniors and 50 juniors. Entries are non refundable except if the race is cancelled; they cannot be deferred, but transfers are permitted until 22 August 2026. Club members who enter are asked to nominate a volunteer in their place, since the event requires up to 80 marshals and helpers.
Prizes are awarded for senior placings and age categories, and for junior 9–12 and 13–15 placings. A course record carries a specific cash prize. The race is licensed by UK Athletics. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
