Loopy Looper
The Loopy Looper is an endurance running event held at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, New Jersey. The race takes place on a 3.75 mile paved loop around the park. The course is noted for being mostly flat and fast, offering views of the Philadelphia skyline. Participants can choose from several distance and time-based formats:
- 12-Hour Solo & Team Relay
- 24-Hour Solo & Team Relay
- 101.25 Miler (27 laps)
- Glow-Up Loop (single night-time party lap)
The multi-hour events challenge runners to complete as many laps as possible within the allotted time. For the 101.25 mile event, runners must complete 27 full laps within a 30-hour cutoff. Specific progress requirements apply, such as completing 21 laps by a certain time to continue.
The event provides a central pit area at Jack Curtis Stadium where participants can set up personal gear. One primary aid station offers made-to-order food, including vegan options, and hydration. A secondary hydration station is located at the midpoint of the loop, though it closes during the overnight hours. This is a cupless race, requiring participants to carry their own water bottles or hydration packs.
Runners in the longer distances may utilize one pacer at a time during the second half of the event. Safety requirements for overnight runners include the use of headlamps and safety lights. Participants who complete both the Loopy Looper and the Frosty Looper in the same calendar year are eligible for a hybrid challenge medal.
