Lone Wolf South West 2026

Lone Wolf South West is an ultra endurance running event held at Haldon Forest, meeting at The Ridge Café in Exeter. The format is a repeating hourly loop: participants start a loop each hour and must complete it within 60 minutes to continue. This cycle runs for 24 hours, with the final lap decided as a race to the finish.

The course follows undulating forest track terrain and includes sections of stony tracks and single-track paths. The event recognises multiple distance options:

  • 10k
  • half marathon
  • marathon
  • ultra marathon

Onsite facilities include a café with indoor space for changing and resting, toilets, water points and a first aid station. Paid parking is available at the location. T-shirts are available for purchase and will be distributed on the morning of the event. Well behaved dogs on leads are permitted and spectators may use the start and finish area to watch.

Participants are aged 18 and over. Organisers provide guidance on punctuality at the start line each hour and on tie-breaking procedures for the final lap. Awards include wooden medals for participants and a handmade wooden trophy for the overall winner. Race information notes that phone signal can be poor in parts of the forest. Past participants reported strong organisation, on-course support and a sense of camaraderie among runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
