Llangollen Fell Race

Llangollen Fell Race takes place on 12 April 2026 and is the ninth running of the event. The organiser expects about 350 runners to compete across three off-road routes. Race profits are donated to the local mountain rescue (NEWSAR) and Llangollen Foodbank; over the nine years more than £10,000 has been given to these causes.

All routes include the climb over Dinas Bran Castle and the longer courses have a revised finish that returns runners to the playing field where they started. A new short course has been introduced for 2026. Prizes and raffle donations are supplied by local and regional organisations, with Wrexham lager listed as a prize sponsor.

Distances and notable route features:

  • 18 miles, about 3000 ft ascent, via Trevor Rocks and Cyrn Y Brain
  • 11 miles, ascent 832 m / 2730 ft, joins Offa's Dyke and Worlds End Trail
  • Short course, just under 6 miles, ascent 430 m / 1400 ft

The event is run under WFRA conditions and requires runners to carry specified kit. Required items include a waterproof jacket and trousers, gloves and hat, emergency blanket, whistle, emergency food, and a soft water flask or cup for the long race. Random kit checks are carried out at registration. A technical T-shirt can be ordered for collection on the day and prizes are awarded by overall placing and age categories up to 60 years.
