Llangollen Fell Race - Llangollen, Wales

Llangollen Fell Race is an annual fell running event held from the playing fields at Llangollen Leisure Centre. The 2026 event is the ninth running and introduces a new short route of about five miles. Organisers expect around 350 runners across three routes. Race profits are donated to the local mountain rescue and to Llangollen Foodbank; over £10,000 has been given to these local causes since the race began.

There are three race options with varied distance and ascent:

  • 28 km / 17.4 miles with about 915 m ascent
  • 16 km / 9.9 miles with significant ascent
  • 8 km / 5 miles with about 400 m ascent

All routes take in the landmark Dinas Bran Castle and include off road sections and trails such as parts of Offa’s Dyke and Worlds End. The long course visits Trevor Rocks, Eglwyseg and Ruabon Mountain and includes notable climbs such as Cyrn Y Brain.

The event is held under WFRA conditions and requires competitors to carry full kit. Required items listed by organisers include a waterproof jacket and trousers, gloves and hat, an emergency blanket, whistle, emergency food and a soft water flask or cup for the long race. Race entries may include a race memento and there are raffle prizes and sponsored prizes for overall and age category placings. Tech t shirts are available to order for collection on the day.
