Leeds Country Way In A Day

Horsforth, United Kingdom • 12 Sep 2026

Event overview

Leeds Country Way In A Day is an organised 100 km event that makes a complete circuit around the city of Leeds, using the Leeds Country Way footpaths. The route is listed as approximately 100 km / 62 miles and stays within about 7 miles of Leeds City Square. The event is scheduled for 12 September 2026, with the event headquarters to be confirmed. Entry fees are shown as £25–£27. The event is open to entrants aged 18 to 99 on the event date. The organiser is Great Owl Running.

Route and terrain

The route follows public rights of way, including footpaths, bridleways and minor lanes, with a few short sections on roads. Terrain is described as roughly 80% trail and 20% road / tarmac. Weather can change underfoot conditions significantly. The existing way marks use an owl symbol, and organisers will provide a route GPX; competitors are responsible for navigating the course.

Logistics and rules

There will be six checkpoints, with one major aid station near the halfway point. Checkpoints provide water and a selection of food items. Competitors may leave one small returnable drop bag at the halfway checkpoint and nonreturnable drop bags at two other checkpoints. Toilets are available at the start and finish and may be available in towns visited on route. Mandatory kit includes a phone or watch with the GPX route, headtorch, waterproof jacket, warm hat or wrap, and capacity for 1 litre of water. Pacers and crew are allowed; pacers must not carry any mandatory equipment for a competitor. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
