The 27k course starts at the base of the ski area, ascends via "The Nut" for about 2 miles, then follows forest service roads to the Tumwater Ridge (Tumwater Paraglider Launch area parking). The high point determines the Summit King and Queen. The route descends and traverses to Freund Canyon on downhill forest service roads, passes views of the Eastern Cascade alpine desert, then climbs briefly before a final descent to the start/finish and festival area. The Ski Hill 55k is two loops of the Skyline course and totals over 7,700 feet of vertical gain.

Divisions for the 27k include Elite (time limit 2:40:00), Sport, and Masters (45+). Awards go three deep in multiple categories for men, women, and non-binary athletes. All finishers may choose a custom award or have five trees planted in Washington via One Tree Planted. A post-race meal is provided at the Trail Family Food Tent. Volunteers receive $20 credit per hour. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
