Plain Endurance Runs
Plain Endurance Runs are held on U.S. Forest Service trails and forest roads in the Cascade mountains near Leavenworth, Washington. The course crosses parts of the Lake Wenatchee, Entiat, and Chelan ranger districts and is routed through remote mountain terrain.
Distances:
- Plain 100K
- Plain 100 Miler
The route includes roughly 85 miles of trail and 20 miles of forest service roads. Total elevation gain and loss is about 21,000 feet. The event is self supported with one resupply point available after the first 100K. Water on course comes from creeks and rivers, and participants must carry food and required gear from the start or from the resupply point.
Qualification standards differ by distance. Entry to the Plain 100 Miler requires prior completion of a trail 100 mile event, the Plain 100K, or an equivalent event. The Plain 100K has no formal qualification, though a challenging 50 mile event is suggested as a minimum level of ability.
This is a non profit event and proceeds are directed to local Search and Rescue and military veteran support groups. Refunds are not granted except if the event is cancelled; in that case some funds may be withheld to cover direct expenses.
The 2025 edition was cancelled due to fire closure boundaries that affected much of the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
