Mad Meadows
Mad Meadows is an ultramarathon event near Leavenworth, Washington held on October 10, 2026. The event offers two trail distances:
- 50K
- 50 mile
The course runs on remote alpine ridgelines and through meadows and larch stands. Terrain includes smooth single track, technical sections with rocks, steep climbs and long ridge runs. The 50K reaches elevations above 6,000 ft with about 7,000 ft of total climb. The 50 mile route reaches above 7,000 ft with about 11,000 ft of total climb. Both routes finish at Grouse Creek Group Campground on Chiwawa River Road.
Aid stations are located along each course, including water-only stations; several are hike-in. Typical aid station food includes peanut butter and jelly, gummies, gels, electrolyte drinks and hot food at some larger stations. Crew access is allowed at Rock Creek, Basalt, Chikamin and Entiat aid stations. Drop bags are available at Basalt and Chikamin for 50 mile entrants and at Chikamin for 50K entrants.
This is a cupless race; participants must carry a refillable container. Pacers are not permitted. Required gear differs by distance and includes a light rain or wind jacket, water capacity (50K 1L, 50 mile 2L) and a downloaded course GPS file. A free kid’s race of roughly 1 mile is offered the same day. The event operates under a special use permit with the Okanagan-Wenatchee National Forest.
