Mad Meadows 50 October 10 2026
Mad Meadows 50 is a trail running event near Leavenworth, Washington offering two distances.
- 50 miles
- 50 kilometers
The course combines smooth single track, long technical sections, steep climbs, and notable stands of larch trees in October. The 50 kilometer route reaches elevations above 6000 ft while the 50 mile route tops out above 7000 ft. Runners can expect views east into the Entiat River Valley and west toward the glaciated slopes of Clark Mountain and Dakobed Glacier Peak.
Both distances start on Chiwawa River Road USFS 62. The 50 kilometer route turns toward the Minnow Creek trailhead on USFS 6210 and climbs toward Minnow Aid Station before joining the 50 mile course at Chikamin Aid Station. The 50 mile course begins with a 7 mile flat section on Chiwawa River Road, then climbs out of the river valley via Rock Creek and steep switchbacks to Basalt Pass with aid at Basalt. A graded ridge climb leads to Garland Ridge and pumus slopes with larch trees, followed by a technical descent back toward Chikamin.
From Chikamin both routes climb to Chikamin Ridge on well graded smooth single track, pass a north facing talus slope of old growth larches, move through meadow sections, and descend the Mad River trail to Mad Meadows Aid Station. After Alder Ridge and Entiat Aid Station, runners follow about 4.5 miles of single track alongside Chiwawa River Road to the finish at Grouse Creek Group Campground.
The event is produced by Evergreen Trail Runs, founded in 2010 and operating as a sister brand to Orca Running. The organizer does not issue refunds. Entrants may defer to the next year, transfer their entry to another runner up to race day, or switch to another Evergreen event with fees applied.
