LATR Backyard Ultra is a last-man-standing ultramarathon held at Lake Ahquabi State Park in Indianola, Iowa. Runners tackle a 4.167-mile loop on scenic Lake Ahquabi trails, returning to the starting corral at hourly intervals to begin the next lap. The mostly dirt trail winds through mature timber with lake views, and later hours require headlamps and added lighting.

The course features roots, rocks and uneven surfaces, with access to bathrooms and water at the start and mid-point. There is no race cap or set end time, and the winner is the last person to complete a lap. Aid from crews is allowed between laps; pacers are not permitted.
