Last Stand 1776 Backyard Ultra

Last Stand 1776 Backyard Ultra is an endurance event held in Midlothian, VA (13501 Midlothian Tpke, 23113) on June 13, 2026. The main event follows the Backyard Ultra format: runners complete a 4.14 mile loop every hour with a one hour time limit to finish each loop. Runners who finish a loop before the hour may start the next loop; the event continues hour after hour until only one runner returns to the start line to begin the following loop.

The event benefits the Semper Fi and America's Fund. The race awards a cash prize and the Sword of Honor to the last runner standing. All participants receive a custom race shirt, a belt buckle, and additional race items.

A companion Last Stand 1776 Mini Backyard Ultra offers a shorter experience where participants may run a small number of loops to learn the format or pace another runner. Support crews and spectators are part of the event environment and provide encouragement on each loop.

The course includes a mix of trails, bridges, sidewalks, and lakeside sections around Loch Lothian. Organizers provide a loop milestone chart that tracks cumulative distances as runners progress through successive loops. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
