Last Human Standing - West Greenwich, RI

Last Human Standing is an endurance loop race held on private property adjacent to Big River Management Area in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Organizers disclose the site address to registrants and their crews; parking is limited and entrants are asked to keep vehicle count to one per runner. Confirmed carpooling may allow additional entry availability.

The event uses a repeating single loop. Runners must complete each loop in less than 60 minutes to remain eligible. Laps are repeated at one hour intervals and the same course and rules apply each lap. The event continues until a single runner remains. The remaining athlete must be present at the starting line and complete one additional loop more than the second to last non finisher to be declared the Last Human Standing and the winner.

Because the course is on private property, organizers discourage independent preview runs and note that course previews should be done only during official preview group runs. Results have been recorded for previous editions including 2021 through 2025; past race reports note a wide range of conditions, for example daytime highs in the upper 80s Fahrenheit in 2025 and a 35°F actual temperature at the 2021 event.
