Lapham Peak Colorama Run/Walk

Lapham Peak Colorama Run/Walk takes place at Lapham Peak State Forest with events on wide, well-groomed trails. The event includes timed trail runs and walk options, a free children's run, post-event treats in the picnic shelter, and participant shirts and awards.

The run courses are described as follows: the 5K course tours the middle level of the park; the 10K follows the outer perimeter trail. The 10K and 5K runs are timed, with podium prizes for overall and age-group finishers. Walkers have untimed, more casual options and can use a paved accessible trail suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. Walkers may also take the stairs to the tower and visit the Butterfly Garden and Hausmann Nature Center on the route back to Homestead Hollow.

A free Smokey Bear Children's Run circles the pond at Homestead Hollow and is open to children age 10 and under; optional children's t-shirts are available for purchase. Participants receive a long sleeve t-shirt and run winners receive custom-designed Lapham Peak awards. Colorama serves as a fundraiser for Lapham Peak State Forest improvements. Parking requires a 2026 WI DNR vehicle sticker or a $10 special event parking fee.
