The course is 2.2 km / 1.4 miles with 300 m / 984 ft of climb. Minimum age for entry is 16. U19 competitors run in the senior race. Junior races are included on the day for U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17. Prizes are awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age category. Age is calculated as at 31 December in the race year.

Take on Orrest Sun Up in Windermere on Sun 21 Dec 2025, a bracing one mile climb to Orrest Head with stunning Lake District views. Entry on the day from The Phoenix Centre is £5 with donations supporting local community charities.
