Event

The Lamplighter 20 is a night trail run set for 20–21 June 2026, starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall in the North York Moors. The event is a circular route of approximately 20 miles run from dusk to dawn. Entrants have 6.5 hours to return to Goathland Village Hall. Entries are limited to 40 participants and the minimum age is 18.

Course and support

The marked course uses good tracks, open moorland and forestry and visits triangulation pillars and other checkpoint locations. There will be a mix of marker flags and mapped navigation support; each entrant receives a tracker and a GPX file and master map will be provided. There is at least one indoor checkpoint. Refreshments, water, soft drinks and snacks will be available at checkpoint locations, and hot food with vegetarian and gluten free options will be available after the finish.

Entry, kit and logistics

Entry options include solo and pair teams; published fees are Solo £35.00 and Pair £70.00. Registration and number collection take place before last light. Parking at the village hall is limited to marshals, with additional village parking available. A mandatory kit list applies; items include a map covering the North Yorkshire Moors, a working compass and whistle, head-torch plus spare light or batteries, emergency bivvy bag, spare warm clothing, waterproofs, charged mobile phone and charging lead, at least 500 ml of drink, at least 60 g of emergency food, and a cup for drinks at checkpoints.
