Lakeland Trails Marathon, Half Marathon and Mini 10k in Coniston

The event on 7th June 2026 offers three trail distances around Coniston in the Lake District. Courses run on fully marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways and include a complete circuit of Coniston Water, a visit to Tarn Hows and the elevated Beacon Tarn. The route gives panoramic views of the Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags.

Terrain is mainly hard packed trails with occasional muddy sections and some road links where runners should take care. Gates on private land may be unstaffed so runners are asked to close them behind them. Dogs are not allowed on the course. Bone conduction headphones are permitted; over ear and in ear headphones are not.

Water and feed stations are provided at set points on the marathon and half marathon routes; competitors are asked to bring a reusable cup or carry their own water because cups are not supplied. At feed stations there will be snacks such as bananas, crisps, jelly babies, flapjack, water and flat coke.

The event village is based at Coniston Sports and Social Centre with bar seating, live music, PA commentary, catering stalls and trade stands. Professional photographers cover the courses and results are published live. Prizes are awarded in open and veteran categories and all marathon finishers receive a medal. Advanced life support medics and radio communications support the event for competitor safety. Parking charges apply and parking is free for cars with four or more occupants. Run classic Lake District fell country at the Blake Fell Race on 31 January 2026, a testing 9.5 km course with 429 m of climb around The Leaps. Entries are limited to 120 so book early for this spirited winter challenge.

Challenge yourself on a classic Lake District fell race from Ambleside, tackling 14 km with 880 m of ascent and spectacular views. Entry is on the day for £2 and competitors must be 18 or over, with a strict cut off at Loughrigg summit.
