Lakeland Trails at Helvellyn

Lakeland Trails at Helvellyn is a series of off road events based in Glenridding on the shores of Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. Courses follow well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways through ancient woodlands into the foothills of Helvellyn, with elevated views of Ullswater and surrounding peaks. Underfoot conditions are generally good for those used to off road running but can be tricky in places.

Distances

• 5k Helvellyn Sport Trail, age 12 and over
• 10k Helvellyn Trail Run, age 16 and over, time limit 2 hours
• 15k Helvellyn Trail Race and Trail Challenge, age 18 and over; Challenge has a 3.5 hour limit

Entry information notes limited earlybird places for the first 250 entrants and a club discount option. Race numbers are collected on the day and must be attached horizontally for timing. There are no water stations on course so competitors must carry their own water and a cup.

Logistics and safety details include cash only parking at King George V Playing Fields, complimentary shuttle buses from Penrith when arranged, baggage storage by the main marquee, Event Advanced Life Support medics on site, and a recommended kit list that may be made compulsory in poor weather. In ear and over ear headphones are not permitted; bone conductor headphones are allowed. Dogs are not permitted on the course.

The event village includes trade stalls, local caterers, race photography made available after the event, live music and a prize structure for the Race and Trail Run categories. Results are published live on the event results page. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
