24 Hours on the Trails at Leighton Hall
This is a 24 hour running and walking event set entirely within the Leighton Hall estate in the Silverdale and Arnside Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The course is a single lap of 5.75 km, contained on estate paths and not on public roads. The surface is a mix of grass, packed trail and some gravel, with a couple of hills and wooded sections. For variety the lap direction alternates between clockwise and anti-clockwise every two hours.
Entries can be Solo, Pairs or Teams of up to 12 people, with one person on course at a time for pairs and teams. The event does not require a lap each hour. Each competitor uses an individual timing chip and laps are recorded via a midway timing point; live timing will be available during the event. Prizes will be awarded in Open and Veteran categories and for those spending the most time on their feet. Medals are optional and the cost of any unrequested medal will support Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
Support on course includes water and VOOM electrolyte products at the start/finish and a daytime water station halfway round. Caterers and Leighton Hall Cafe will provide food on site. Camping is for competitors only with basic facilities; small campervans are permitted but motor homes are not. Car parking is a short walk from the campsite and there is no re-entry for competitors once they leave.
Medical cover is provided by Advanced Life Support Medics and staff may withdraw competitors for safety reasons. Children’s activities run on both days and there will be live music and official event photography with photos made available free. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
