24 Hours on the Trails : Leighton Hall

24 Hours on the Trails takes place within the grounds of Leighton Hall in the Silverdale and Arnside Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The event is organised as a 24-hour challenge on a single off-road loop. The loop is 5 km long, relatively flat, and event organisers will alternate the running direction during the weekend.

Entries are offered for Individuals, Couples and Teams. Individuals and Couples have a minimum age of 18; Teams can be any size between 3 and 12 runners with a minimum age of 16. For Couples and Teams only one person is allowed on the course at a time except during the celebration lap. Participants may run or walk at any time during the 24 hours and can choose how long each stint lasts, including running through the night.

Prizes will be available for those who cover the furthest distance and for those who spend the most time on their feet. The event includes on-site activities for participants when they are not on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Tackle the Grisedale Grind, a steep 4 km Lake District fell race with a testing 480 m ascent that rewards gutsy climbs. Entry on the day for £7 cash, juniors welcome at Revelin Moss opposite Whinlatter Visitor Centre.

A mountain running event of about 40 miles in the Lake District, taking in Helvellyn, High Street and other summits. The figure of eight route has a 27 miles short option, is limited to 50 starters and requires full mountain kit.

Experience the Newlands Valley Horseshoe at this Category AL fell race near Keswick. Traverse 24.7 km of exposed peaks and over 2300 meters of elevation in the heart of the Lake District.

An 11.5 mile fell race around the Newlands fells on 18 April 2026, based at Newlands Adventure Centre in Keswick. Entry is limited to 500 and runners must carry mandatory mountain running kit with pre entry required.
