Lakeland Country Fair Fell Races
The fell races at the Lakeland Country Fair are held in Torver, near Coniston, and are organised under Fell Runners Association rules. Entry is on the day; the races are free to enter but fair admission must be paid. Ages are determined on 31 December in accordance with FRA rules.
Courses are run from the show ground and include a senior course that goes to the summit of Coniston Old Man and returns by a similar route. Runners navigate their own line except for a marked section near the start and finish. The use of GPS as a navigational aid is not permitted in the senior race. Full kit is compulsory for the senior event in line with FRA requirements. Competitors are asked to provide their own safety pins.
Prizes are awarded to junior age-group placings and to senior finishers. Senior overall men’s and women’s winners receive a voucher, a bottle of wine and a trophy; second and third places receive trophies and bottles. Additional bottles are awarded in veteran and age-category prizes.
