Lakeland Country Fair Fell Race

Event Overview

The Lakeland Country Fair Senior Race is a fell running event held in the Lake District region of England. The competition is based at The Showfield in Little Arrow, Torver. The main senior event is classified as an AS category race, covering a distance of 9 km (5.6 miles) with a total ascent of 705 m (2313 ft). Participants must be at least 18 years old to enter the senior category.

Course Information

The race starts and finishes within private farm fields. Because these areas are private property, they are not available for reconnaissance prior to the event. Runners can access the remainder of the route by following the public footpath located 300 m northwest along the A593, which reaches the course after approximately 600 m. The event requires specific fell running skills, including experience (ER), petite mountain skills (PM), local knowledge (LK), and navigation skills (NS).

Junior Categories

In addition to the senior race, several shorter distances are available for younger runners:

• Under 10: 1400 m distance with 57 m of ascent (minimum age 6).
• Under 12 / Under 14: 2200 m distance with 77 m of ascent.
• Under 16: Specific distance and ascent as per junior race guidelines.

Entry Details

Registration is available both via pre-entry and on the day of the event. While there is no specific fee for the race itself, participants must pay the entry fee for the Lakeland Country Fair.
