L100 Recce 1: Coniston - Buttermere takes place on Sunday 23 November 2025. The meeting location is John Ruskin School, Lake Road, Coniston, Cumbria, LA21 8EW. The event is organised by The Lakeland 50 & 100. Entry fee is £30. Entries open 25 September 2025 and close 20 November 2025. Minimum age to participate is 18 or older.

Course and entry information

This recce covers the first part of the 100-mile course only and is 26 miles from Coniston to Buttermere. The route includes Black Sail Pass and Scarth Gap. Full kit is required and there are checkpoint cut off times in place. The entry fee includes coach transport, medical support and basic refreshments at checkpoints. Only competitors who have been confirmed as having a place in the Lakeland 100/50 2026 should enter; unauthorised entries will be cancelled and the fee returned less a £5 administration charge. Additional recce dates for the series are scheduled for 17 January 2026 (evening, Ambleside - Coniston), 22 March 2026 (Buttermere - Dalemain) and 14 June 2026 (Pooley Bridge - Ambleside). Classic Lake District fell run from New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, a sharp 3.5 mile course with 2100 ft of climbing over rough rock and moor. Day entries welcome; bring map, compass and waterproofs for this high country test.

Experience the landscape of the Lake District with trail races of 23 km and 53 km starting from Keswick. These chip timed events include themed medals and routes passing Derwent Water and Scafell Pike.
