Course and logistics

The half marathon is a hilly loop mainly on dirt fire roads with ridge-line views of Lake Chabot, grassy slopes, and eucalyptus groves; Mt. Diablo and San Francisco Bay are visible from parts of the route. The half has a 3.5-hour time limit. The 5K is an out-and-back of about 3.1 miles, mostly on paved surfaces with gentle rolling hills. Both courses have water stations plus first aid and radio support; organizers advise bringing personal hydration. Both races are chip-timed. Race packet and bib pick-up occurs at the Willow picnic site (finish area) on race day; packets are not mailed. The event runs rain or shine and there are no refunds. Finisher medals are awarded, and age-division medals go to the top three in each division (12 divisions for the half, 9 for the 5K). Official race photos are available after the event.
