Kokanee Trail Runs

Kokanee Trail Runs is a trail race weekend in South Lake Tahoe organized by Tahoe Mountain Milers. The event takes place near Fallen Leaf Lake with start and finish at South Tahoe High School and parking available in high school lots.

Distances offered:

  • 1/2 Marathon, 12.63 miles, 1,387 feet elevation gain
  • 10K, 6.54 miles, 618 feet elevation gain
  • 5K, 3.4 miles, 263 feet elevation gain
  • Tadpole Trot, half mile noncompetitive for children 12 and under

Courses are described as scenic and the half marathon travels over the top of Tahoe Mountain with views of Lake Tahoe. Exact distances and elevation gains may vary by GPS device; generally the 5K and 10K run a little long and the half marathon a little short.

Aid station support varies by distance: the 5K has a water only station, the 10K has two stations stocked with water, Tailwind, and snacks, and the half marathon has three similar stations. Tailwind is the official on-course drink and Rapid Hydration is available at the finish. Participants are asked to use reusable cups when possible.

Event details include early packet pickup at Camp Richardson Resort's Oktoberfest, recyclable event shirts made from 100% recycled materials, age and gender divisions including non-binary, and designated beneficiary charities for 2026. The event does not permit headphones, dogs, strollers, or baby joggers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
