Kokanee Trail Runs

Kokanee Trail Runs is a multi-distance race event held in South Lake Tahoe with courses along Fallen Leaf Lake and over Tahoe Mountain. The event includes a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and a non competitive Tadpole Trot for children 12 and under. The Tadpole Trot includes a finisher bag with an award and refreshments.

Distances offered

• Half marathon approximately 12.63 miles with 1,387 feet elevation gain
• 10K approximately 6.54 miles with 618 feet elevation gain
• 5K approximately 3.4 miles with 263 feet elevation gain
• Tadpole Trot a half mile non competitive run for children 12 and under

Courses feature multiple aid stations: three on the half marathon, two on the 10K, and a water stop on the 5K. Aid stations are stocked with water, Tailwind, and snacks; Tailwind is the official on course drink. Runners are encouraged to use reusable cups or handhelds to limit waste.

Start and finish are located at South Tahoe High School with parking in the school lots. Early packet pickup occurs at Camp Richardson Resort’s Oktoberfest on the day before the race. The event is RRCA sanctioned, provides finisher awards for all participants, and prizes for top finishers in gender and age divisions.

Event shirts are made from 100 percent recycled materials; adult unisex shirts are long sleeve while youth shirts are short sleeve. Registration opens June 1, 2026. Proceeds from the event benefit Nevada Humane Society and the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe. For safety, headphones, dogs, strollers, and baby joggers are not allowed.
