Kokanee Trail Runs, South Lake Tahoe, CA
The 35th running of the Kokanee Trail Runs is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026, pending permits from the US Forest Service. The event offers multiple distances held on trails and roads near Fallen Leaf Lake and Tahoe Mountain, with course sections that provide views of Lake Tahoe.

- 1/2 Marathon 12.63 miles, 1,387 ft gain
- 10K 6.54 miles, 618 ft gain
- 5K 3.4 miles, 263 ft gain
- Tadpole Trot half mile, noncompetitive for children 12 and under
The half marathon routes travel over the top of Tahoe Mountain. Courses are RRCA sanctioned. Aid station provisions vary by race: the 5K has a water only station near halfway; the 10K has two stations with water, Tailwind, and snacks; the half marathon has three stations with water, Tailwind, and snacks. Tailwind is the official on-course drink. Dauwatermelon will be available at aid stations and Rapid Hydration at the finish area.
Early packet pickup is scheduled Saturday at Camp Richardson Resort during Oktoberfest at 1900 Jameson Beach Rd; entrance to Oktoberfest is free both days. Race day packet pickup and restrooms are located at the north end of the South Tahoe High School football field.
Event shirts are sustainably sourced, made from 100% recycled materials; adult sizes are long sleeve and youth sizes short sleeve. Orders placed after August 16 are not guaranteed a shirt. Funds from the event will go to Nevada Humane Society and Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe. For safety and insurance reasons, headphones, dogs, strollers, and baby joggers are not allowed.
